On September 28, 2026, at 5:30 a.m., Bursztyn Unity left Gdańsk Shipyard Remontowa and began her first sea trials.
The first phase of testing is expected to take about a week. Further trials are planned next, including tests with the classification society. Their successful completion will be one of the final steps before the vessel is handed over for operation.
During the first phase of sea trials, the most critical systems and the vessel’s handling at sea are tested. These tests allow for verification of the ferry’s readiness for the next stages of acceptance.

After completing the first phase of sea trials, the vessel is scheduled to return to the shipyard. Next, further sea trials are planned involving the classification society.
Following the completion of tests and acceptances, the ferry will be prepared for delivery to the shipowner. Concurrently, the crewing process for the vessel is underway.
If all stages of trials and acceptances proceed according to schedule, the new vessel is set to commence regular operations on the Świnoujście–Ystad route.

Maiden Voyage Scheduled for November 2026
Bursztyn Unity, the second of the modern ferries being built for Polish shipowners, is getting closer to commencing regular operations on the Baltic Sea. According to the current POLSCA Baltic Ferries schedule, the vessel’s first planned departure from Świnoujście to Ystad will take place in November 2026. Prior to that, the ferry is scheduled to undergo sea trials and be officially christened in Szczecin.
Bursztyn Unity is set to soon join Jantar Unity as another modern ferry operating routes between Poland and Sweden. For the Port of Świnoujście and transport operators using ferry crossings, this marks a significant increase in transport capacity and another evolution in the organization of the POLSCA Baltic Ferries fleet.
Sea trials and christening ceremony in Szczecin
On September 28, 2026, the Bursztyn Unity left the Gdańsk Shiprepair Yard (Remontowa) and commenced her first sea trials. The first phase of testing is expected to last about a week. Afterwards, further trials are planned, including tests conducted with the participation of the classification society.
During the trials, systems and equipment being tested include the propulsion system, the vessel’s maneuverability, onboard systems, navigational equipment, and communication systems. The successful completion of all tests will be one of the final stages preceding the handover of the ferry for service.
The christening ceremony for Bursztyn Unity is scheduled for the first half of November 2026, just prior to its planned entry into regular service. The vessel is expected to dock at Wały Chrobrego in Szczecin and remain open to the media and the public for several days.
